What is the Pentana Risk ‘exe’?
The new Pentana Risk .exe package is an application version of the Classic application which doesn’t require maintaining a separate Java installation. The application comes with the parts of Java which are needed to run Classic, so no additional downloads are needed. Users will simply need to download the Pentana Risk Classic application once and the application will install updates when needed.
How do I enable the exe?
The exe must be enabled by the support team, who can be reached through the support portal or at email@example.com. This must be requested in writing by a Site Administrator. The exe can only be turned on or off by site, so all Users from a site must use the same version of Classic (whether this is the old Java app or the new exe).
How do I use the exe?
Once enabled, the application must be downloaded before first use. This can be done from the welcome page or via the link provided by the support team once enabled. The installer will install the application and the required Java packages, and then launch Classic.
Once downloaded, Users will be able to access the exe in two ways:
The Browser ‘Go To…’ menu, by selecting the Classic options.
By searching for the app (Pentana Risk ) in your installed programs.
The launcher will check for updates and then launch the application
What is the advantage of using the exe?
By including the required elements of Java with the application Users will no longer need to maintain a separate installation of a Java JRE. You will also not be affected by the Java SE update cycle, reducing the maintenance cost of running the application.
What are the technical requirements?
The only additional requirements for the system will be installation of the new app, either by end Users or by internal IT teams, and network access (port 443) for data access and updates.
What if I have more questions?
