The Home Portal is the first screen a User sees when they log into Pentana Risk and it is also the page they are taken to when 'Home' is selected from the Go To menu. Within the Go To menu, the logged in User's Home Portal will show with a house icon next to it.
There are multiple ways to set a Users home portal, which this guide will explain.
- Site Default Home Portal
- Assign a Home Portal to a User or Role
- What Happens When a User Has Multiple Home Portals?
Site Default Home Portal
Within the General Site Options, Site Admins are able to set the default home Portal for the site. This automatically gives all Users that Portal as their Home Portal, unless they have another assigned to them.
The option to change the Site Default Portal can be found by selecting 'General' in the Site Admin section of the Go To menu.
The Home Portal section will take you to this page. From here you can chose which Portal or Portal Group you want as the site default, however there can only be one Site Default Portal set at a time. Selecting the button next to a Portal name will select it and you can then save your selection at the bottom of the page. You can also open each Portal in a separate tab by selecting 'Open' next to the Portal.
Note: Users will also need visibility of the Portal in order to view it as their Home Portal.
Assign a Home Portal to a User or Role
Similarly to how you can assign individual Users and Roles visibility and ownership of a Portal, Site Admins can set Users a Home Portal. This option can be found by selecting on the Portal title and selecting 'Who can see this Portal?'.
From the Home Portal option on the right, you can select the Users and roles that will have the Portal as their Home Portal. Note that directly assigning a User a Home Portal overrides the site default for that user.
What Happens when a User has Multiple Home Portals?
Users can only have one Home Portal at a time, unless they are a part of various Roles that are assigned to different home Portals. Therefore the User's Home Portal is determined in order of priority.
The Priority list is as follows:
- The Home Portal that is directly assigned to the User
- The first portal that is set as a Home Portal for a Role that the User is in, sorted alphabetically
- The Site default Home Portal
