Chart Wizard
The first stage in the Chart Wizard is to select the type of Chart that is being built. This will help by pre-loading several appropriate options and functions. The Chart created in the wizard can be modified further once the wizard is completed.
Charts can be accessed and created via the ‘Reporting’ section of the ‘Go To…’ menu.
A new Chart can be created directly using the ‘+New’ button and selecting the ‘Chart’ option. This will initiate the ‘Chart Wizard’ which will guide you through the initial set-up.
Type of Chart
Select 'Trend Chart' to begin.
Performance Indicator
You will have the option to select one or more PI's as a source for your data. Simply click on the '...' button to open the search modal.
Once a PI is selected, the wizard will load the available collection frequencies, and give start and end date override options for the Charts X-axis range.
Without altering date settings, the Chart will choose to display as many active data periods from the earliest PI data to the most recent. Use the date tools to limit what is displayed.
There is also an override option, allowing you to ‘swap’ out PIs. Only one PI per chart can be overridable. This can be used to build comparative trend charts (please refer to the Comparative Trend Chart article), or it can be a useful tool to build general chart templates for use with several similar data sources if one PI is used in the Chart settings and left with the ‘Override’ option enabled.
Appearance
The next stage sets the basic appearance settings. Here we have selected the column series, but this can be changed at any time once the chart has been built.
Review and Confirm
The final wizard page shows the chosen settings for the Chart. This review screen will display any issues with the Chart configuration so that you can amend them. If something is listed in red text it must be resolved before the Chart can be created.
Create Chart
Once ‘Create Chart’ is clicked, the Chart will be generated, and the Chart notebook will be loaded.
Add a Target Line
To add a Target line series onto your trend Chart, click on the chosen Data Source in the ‘Set Up’ tab, and select ‘Add Line Series’.
This will open a modal allowing you to configure the new data series. Here we need to select ‘Target’ from the ‘Field’ option and ensure that ‘Collection Frequency’ and the date selections are configured in the same way as the original data series.
As this target series is taken from the same data source, any changes to the data source will also alter the target source.
