Actions and Risks are often arranged into Projects and Registers, which are made up of several levels of items. This is a great way to quickly review the dependencies in the application. But not only can this tree structure be shown in the application, it can also be replicated in a Report.

Enabling a Tree Structure in a Report
Tree structures are created entirely through Report Layouts. To begin setting up a tree structure:
- Open a new Report Layout
- Select the dots-in-the-box that is highlighted in the image below:
This opens a popup window, with the following options:
- Don't arrange results in a tree
- by position in tree
- by depth in tree
The first option will be selected. This shows that Tree structures are not currently enabled.
Working with different Tree-Structures
When tree-structures are enabled there are two possible settings.
Arrange by Position in Tree
Root items (items with Children only) will appear at the top level, Branch items (items with both a Parent and Children) in the middle, and Leaf items (items with a parent only) at the bottom:
Arrange by Depth in Tree
This option will arrange the items by how far down the tree they are, in other words how many times the tree needs to be expanded before they appear. So, Root items will appear at the top level, with the children of those appearing at level 2, and any items below those appearing at level 3 and below:
Indent Results According to Tree
Regardless of how the tree is arranged, checking the "Indent results according to position in tree" checkbox causes the sub-item of an item to always appear at an increased indent to its parent.
Creating your Report Layout
Regardless of which of the second options is chosen, you'll need to create a different Report Layout for each different arrangement layer. This allows you to further distinguish one level from another, and also allows you to bring through different information for each level.
To switch between the different levels, use the drop-down list to the right of the dots-in-the box you selected earlier:
