What are Polycharts?
The Polychart is a type of chart available within Browser Portals, which will group Query results by the values of a wide range of fields to produce line and bar graphs. Additional options exist for processing dates and fields where large numbers are expected. Polycharts allow a clear graphical representation of complex data in an instant.
Polycharts can be set up based on fields and items from the following Modules:
- Actions
- Risks
- Internal Controls
- PIs
- Feedback
- Assess (Audits)
- Policies
Setting up a Polychart
Before you set up a Polychart you will need a to have a Query setup, the results of this Query will be what drives the Chart. So make sure you have one set up before you create the Polychart.
When editing a layout for a Portal, select the 'Chart' component Type. Then in the pop-up chose which module for your chart under the 'Quick Charts' section on the Left, then select 'Polychart' from the list of options on the Right.
You will then have another pop-up where you will need to select the Query used for the Chart.
Customising the Polychart
The final step in the setup is to configure all the options for your Polychart. The below image shows what settings are set by default.
Type or choose a title - Select the drop-down to choose the between the title 'Polychart' or the title of your query. Alternatively, select the text box to input a custom title for the component.
Group results by - This determines the labels on the X-axis of the chart. The options within this drop-down will be different for each module, but common fields such as status, Ownership, Dates and custom fields are available for all Polycharts.
Bars will show - The default setting 'The number of individual items' counts all items in the Group you selected in the 'Group results by' dropdown. An example, of this, would be to count all items at each status. The other options will vary for each module, but they will all be a sum of the specified field, such as a total of sub-Actions at Red for Actions at Neglected Status.
Presentation - Chose between Vertical Bars, Horizontal Bars and a line series.
Frame colour - Select one of the seven colour options which will control the outline 'Frame' of the component.
Utilising all of these options allows you to create unique charts tailored to your needs. The below chart Counts Actions by their Status and each bar can be drilled down into. Whilst similar to the Basic Traffic light chart, it gives a more detailed overview on your Actions statues.
You can further personalise Polycharts by using a Combined Ownership Query. So each User will see different results on the Chart. More information on Combined Ownership Queries can be found here: Combined Ownership Queries
